berryl
Calorie counter

A calorie counter that counts your supplements too.

berryl counts calories, protein and fiber like a classic calorie counter. On top of that, the app adds your supplements to the vitamins and minerals of the day. So you have food and supplements in one place.

What berryl does differently

More than counting calories.

Food and supplements together

Magnesium from almonds and magnesium from a capsule end up in the same total. Many calorie counters only track what you eat.

Protein and fiber up front

Protein and fiber sit right next to calories. Plus vitamins and minerals.

Search a dish or snap it

Do you often eat out? Take a photo of the plate and berryl estimates the amounts. Or search for the dish and pick small, regular or large. You never have to weigh anything, and you can correct it at any time.

How does a calorie counter work?

A calorie counter adds up the energy from everything you eat and drink and compares the total with your daily goal. The goal depends on sex, height, weight, age and activity. If you want to weigh less, it is set a little below your needs; for building muscle, rather above.

How accurate the result is depends mainly on two things: how good the nutrition data is and how well the portion matches. For generic foods and dishes, berryl takes the nutrition values from the German Food Composition Database (BLS 4.0) of the Max Rubner-Institut, for branded products from Open Food Facts. The amount comes from your photo, from a portion size or from what you enter.

berryl shows energy in kcal (Calories). In Australia and New Zealand, food labels also show kilojoules: 1 kcal is about 4.2 kJ.

Who is berryl the right calorie counter for?

  • You take supplements and want to see how much comes from food and how much from capsules.
  • You pay attention to protein and fiber, not just calories.
  • You often eat on the go and do not want to enter every ingredient one by one.

If you only want to count calories and nothing else, a simple calorie counter may be all you need. berryl is worth it when your supplements belong in the picture too.
